l'mm.' I sure like that Homecoming: pie- turef' Mary Lou Craycraft, IlSSi-Yfllllf editor, declared. Think the kids will like our new feature section and the big play we gave Homecoming? When are we ever going to get all that copy written? Questions like these cmd m-a-n-y, m-a-n-y oth- ers plagued our staff. Writing copy and heads ate up our precious time. To meet our dead- lines many long evenings were devoted solely to writing copy. When time was running out, the tension grew with each scratched-out line, but one laugh rising from our cluttered tables somehow gave us that vital spurt of extra en- ergy to go on. Our business and advertising staffs willingly worked hard trying to keep the yearbook out of the red and in the black. The ads they sold and the sale of yearbooks gave our Beta Pi Sigma the financial backing we needed. The sale of Christmas cards and the annual chili supper caused our banking ac- count to bulge at the seams, but only for a short time, for films, flashbulbs, and develop- ing costs devoured our funds rapidly. Many times ideas for picture ads would momentarily stump us, and when cries of Do you know l'm twenty characters off on this copy? were uttered, the whole editorial staff shuddered. Although we thought at times our yearbook would never approach reality, we finally saw it emerge as a living thing, something all of us had created. We are pleased. How about YOU? Section editors were tboftonz to top? Pat Kirtley, Kay Vincent, Barbara Robinson. Linda Reno, Marlene Varna-r, Bert Lowe, Jim Potter, Locio Pcnsingcr, Leann XVagle, and lucly Camp.

AFTER COMPLETING its first year, the Na- tional Honor Society was deemed a success by its members. The Society had several worthwhile projects. The members took re- sponsibility for keeping the bulletin board in the main corridor changed weekly, using pieces of art work, drawn by the students to make it attractive. Not only does the Society encourage development of abilities, but they try to spark more academic interest. In keep- ing with these goals, two book fairs were spon- sored. The books on sale were pocketbooks ranging from science fiction to books of facts. The members of the club presented an assem- bly, which set forth very helpful pointers on good study habits. In order to demonstrate these more clearly, Bud Mead portrayed Do and Kay Vincent played Don't. Two im- pressive installation ceremonies were held be- fore the student body. A most helpful project was the sponsoring of an orientation day for next year's incoming freshmen, during which an assembly was given in the early after- noon to acquaint the eighth graders with the activities of high school, and after which the guests visited freshmen classes.
