In the fall it is traditional with them to gather the material for the Homecoming bonfire and build a float for the parade. This year's float depicted Lewistown riding in an antique, black, horsedrawn hearse. A new project undertaken this year was the purchase of a summer weight varsity jacket for all the senior varsity members. Regular varsity jackets were presented to Speed Roberts and Bob Cad- walader in appreciation of their continuous assistance with the score board and loud speaker system at our athletic contests. To stimulate sports among all boys, the Varsity Club bought the trophies that were used in intramural sports. Their charitable activities consisted of donations to the March of Dimes and the Vince Grady Fund. The senior athlete to have his name engraved on the Honor Plaque for having the highest scholastic average for four years was Locie Pensinger. ll'iIl I Urvr grim' up .stu I ran ,uct u Varsity l4'ftr'r likv yours. The club is divided into three divisions: the Rod and Gun Club, the Sports Club, and the Mechanics Club. The Rod and Gun Club planned hunting and fishing for their members. The Sports Club has been success- ful in forming an intramural league, called The Never-Sweat League. Winners in this league were awarded trophies. The Mechanics Club has made plans to purchase an old car to disassemble in the utility shed, the purpose being to understand the functioning of a car. Another new club formed this year, the Sci- ence Club, has appealed to many alert and scientific students. Rockets Away was a familiar cry raised by the student sci- entists as they experimented with different types of rocket fuels. Not only were these students scientifically minded, but they al- so contributed to the research fund for polio. l.arry Slnnnaltvx mul l.tlx't'I'IIl' lfry rcarls pru- fvrt um flu' l1L'l'l'I4I'IfliLl of film for tluf your- lmffk, Thr' zlurk mmm is Larry SllL1lll1lkL'I'vS .w 'J
