The marching band was certainly adept at making formations, and the huge crowds at the games showed their appreciation, too, by the loud ap- plause! When we marched in Western's Homecoming parade, the band members looked so sharp and snappy that we really created a fine impression on all who saw us. t

She was much in demand as a vibraharp soloist, being one of the best in the field. Her untiring work with the choruses, sextette, and contest soloists showed how interested she was in the girls. She even had me running up and down the scales, when no one was around, of course! Mr. Shiplett, the band and boys' chorus director, was very friendly and cooperative with everyone. He is a talented vo- calist and plays the Cornet quite professionally. From the crack under the band room door, I watched him patiently oversee the practice of the contest ensembles, and they developed into all-state material under his guidance!

Our Buml on the March! Sedan! Zend The concert band, dignified as it was during the Christmas program, certainly wasn't so at practice, but under Mr. Shiplett's direction, it always gave outstanding performances. The band also took part in the County Music Festival in February and in March sent more stu- dents to the district music contest than it had ever sent before. Four entries brought home four Superior State Finals ratings. 51.1--I Bmul Director, Mr. Shiplett. 'l'I'0Illb0ll0S2 Boh Fifi-li. Don- na Swcncy, Bcrnard Sli'- Cancc, Lawrence lloylc.
