Af, Class History ' Ah yes! It seems just a short time since we entered the immortal halls of dear old B.G.H.S. in September, 1945. But time flies, and we are now ready to take our place among the alumni of our dear old alma mater. ' Not one of our freshmen class of fifty will ever forget our first day and that sinking feeling or the 'horrors' or initiation. We soon recovered, however, and elected the following officers: President, Pat Ideg Vice-President, Ivan Wertzlerg Secretary-Treasurer, Dick Elem. Miss Warfel was our sponsor and helped us tremendously ln chalklng up a successful freshmen year. Our'part1clpat1on ln athletics, band,.and chorus and our wllllngness to serve as active members of clubs and committees were instrumental in making our first year a success. We topped off our crowded schedule with a super plcnlc at Glenwood Park n acom . In the fall of '44, our number diminished by sis, we returned to absorb more of the necessary knowledge for gaining our dlplomas.- We laughed at the 'green' freshmen and delighted in their agonlzed squlrs- ing as-we remembered our 'torture' of the previous year. This year the officers chosen were George Marrow as President, Dick Elam as Vice-President, and Helenjean Lautsrbach as Secretary- Treasurer. Our capable sponsor was Miss A'Hearn who helped us so ve our little problems'. Again we were eager participants in school activities. As a close to our busy year we went to Scottsburg for a steak fry. It was s little muddy, but fun! As the leaves turned ln '45, we found ourselves upperclassmen, forty-one in number. With a full year scheduled, we chose Pat Ide as a capable President with Ernest Spangler as Vice-President and George Merrow as Secretary-Treasurer. To aid us with our undertakings we chose Miss Jones as our sponsor. 'A Case of Spr1ngt1me', presented in the fall as our class play, was a hugs success as was our Junior-Senior banquet and prom aboard the U.S.S. Bushnell where we floated to the music of Freellng Clower's Orchestra. To celebrate the success of our Junior year, we Journeyed to Lake Story for a picnic and a swim! September, 1946---the opening of our senior year with a class of forty, found us just a bit more sober and striving for the reward of four years of fun and study, the diploma. Our officers for this year were Ernest Spangler as President, George Merrow as V1ce-Pres1dent,- and Shirley Dobbins as Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Renwick was the sponsor of our class-the class of '47. Our two outstanding accomplishments were the publishing of the Replica and our class play, 'Love Your Nelghbor'. Our class is proud of its letter winners, the winners of awards at music contests, and the many individuals who were outstanding ln other fields. We, the class of '47, find it difficult to realize that we have completed the closing chapter of our high school days.. We have come to the parting of the ways but memories will ever keep us close to our high school home, B.C.H.S.
