CLASS HISTORY 1 As we go to face a new world tomorrow, we take with us the memories of the wonderful times that we have experienced during our school days. The greatest day was way back in '40 when we walked tirnidly, almost in tears, up the steps of the grammar school building to be greeted by Mrs. Parker. Little Pinkie Reid had a pocket full of brother's and sister's report cards. . . for he contended that without them he couldn't enter school. The second grade challenged our ability to spell. . . twenty-five words a week! In the fourth grade, we wanted to sing Don't Fence Me ln every fifteen minutes of the day. . . that song expressed our sentiments perfectly. We became more serious- minded in the fifth grade, we elected class officers for the first time. Our class roll was enlarged when the seventh graders from Center Hill joined us. At last. . . our first year in high school! What a hilarious time we had when the girls wore their hair in pigtails and the boys donned knee-length trousers for the Kid Party given in honor of the Seniors by the Freshmen. Mrs. Davidson, our sponsor, was a darling in her red and white stripped pinafore. Our Sophomore year, guided by Mr. Witt, found us enjoying many parties. . . the most memorable was the beach party as Sanlando Springs. A most delightful evening was enjoyed by the girls who served at the Ir. -Sr. Banquet. Our Junior Year. . . Need we say anymore! I I Class rings, play, Goodbye, Hollywood directed by Mrs. Gainesg a special column in 'The Gatorzette' written by Gail Minton: Educational Guidance programs by Mr. Boardg and last but not least, our Ir. -Sr. Banquet, 'Hawaiian Paradise. What a pool! What a moon! Stars dripping from the ceiling! Barefoot hula girls serving the dinner! Those receiving special honors that year were Jerry Sellers, Boys Stateg Charlotte Center, Girls State and FSASC, Gail Minton, Press Conferenceg Frankie lord, Clyde Gates and Allen Perry, Key Club Convention. Finally. . . Our Senior Year! Again Jerry Sellers was elected as class president- -his sixth year. The annual staff and paper staff worked hard and diligently to publish the best ever . For the first time in B. H. S. history a Beta Club was organized. Gail Minton was elected president. The football season was spiced with the 'Senior Air as Joan Richey Barbara Woolf and Gracie Padgett cheered the boys on for their second year. Ierry made all-conference for two years in succession. The Seniors were really in for being the first to start something new. JoanR.ichey was crowned MissB. H. S. at our Homecoming Webster, Gail Minton and Barbara Woolf were her attendants. Basketball time came around with Barbara Woolf, Faith Drlggers and Vera Connell making baskets for their fourth, third and first years respectively.
