We are happy to have a part in your annual to record some of the achievements of our organization. We are particularly proud of our Big Three projects: The purchas- ing of black out curtains for the auditorium, a projector, films, and playground equip- ment for the elementary department. We sponsored the dental clinic, a Girl State Candidate. contributed money to the school library and equipped a health room for girls. These achievements were made possible through the cooperation and work of parents, teachers and friends of the Bushnell School. Nothing builds stronger friendships more quickly than sharing a piece of work that builds a better future for a child! CLASS PRQPHECY The time is 1961. The place is Velma Connell's Rondivoe in the heart of Bushnell. The Class of 1951 are assembled for their reunion, and also to celebrate the success of one of our most famous classmates--you all know him, Franklin Dixon. Although after his last picture Why Was I Ever Bom' he is often referred to as Mr. Deadbeat. All of us are here, including the famed movie producer, Johnny Bennet, who at the present is visiting Jimmie Branch. Jimmie, after years of ,O nhwmhs hard work, has invented a new type of school, you guessed itl One I ,iw Y: where teachers aren't necessary. While we are here so eagerly dis- .1 ? cussing old V! times, Jane, the wacky psychiatrist, is re- viewing the gf if-' crowd to see if she can find a head that sounds the note Bb when thumped. Myrtice is very happy at this ing ten years finally retired, gracefully when playing basketball. Pat Jones has two darling children. I guess you know Lee Hutto farmer. Charles, even on vacation from his radio Blue Lights On is busily trying to get the manager f Q time, she finally has her other ring, after wait- for itl Nancy Rivenbark, the famous basketball player, has settled down and has is that very successful program Keep The of this place to install and is now teaching her twelve girls the art of falling down 0 I . ' I I n n BLUE lights. L. J. Ramsey, or should we say is now working with a modeling agency in New Lover Boy Ramsey York. What a modell Donnie Graham, the preacher, is trying to encourage us to quit drinking Coca Cola. Zanna Pearl is now secretary to the President. She even typed 53 words a minute without any errors! Delbert Farrar was voted the best .5 singer of the month. He seems to be very excited tonight and keeps looking toward Jane with his roving eye. Glenn Wade, the noted Doctor is work- ing on his M A D degree. Julia Hall is coaching the Bushnell girls, and would you know it--they haven't won a game! Shy Mary Emerson snagged a manl His name--Sweet William La De Da. Clyde Hunt, still unmarried, is working at a cosme- tic factory--testing lipstick. least, I, Carolyn Ramsey, with rush back to the pool, where I without getting wetl Last, but by all means not my 107 pounds of weight, must am teaching men to swim, CLASS HISTORY In the summer of 1939 the teachers at Bushnell least expected what would be their surprise at the starting of school in September. The Senior class of '51 started their first year of school, under the direction of Mrs. Parker, as most other classes: crying the first day, not wanting to stop drawing, and continuing 133:15 to play after the bell rang. 'Q The next few years we spent our time A learning reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic. il F7235 And--would you believe it--we learned that we had to stand in the corner for missing spelling words and for talking. The fourth and fifth grades were exciting years. We spent our recesses in a game of WAR. The girls, of course, made very able nurses, while the boys were soldiers on the battlefront. Somehow the teachers thought the girls were getting belligerentg so each girl had to write, I will not play with the boys --a hundred times. ln the sixth grade we moved over to the big building'l What a thrill that was! In the seventh grade we had a different teacher for every class. Several newcomers from Center Hill and Sumterville were welcomed to our class. The next year we became interested in sports. Both boys and girls played on the eighth grade basketball team. The girls were able to take home economics and the boys agriculture. We could also join different clubs. In our Freshman year we were kept quite busy. Some of our class made the basketball j team that year. The girls participated in the Junior- fs! b 9 Senior banquet, which had Southern Plantation for its y A: , ,,,y ,K theme. We dressed as negroes and sang songs of the yy. Old South. At the end of the year we, the lowly Fresh- men, took the honorable Seniors on a SPLASH PARTY at 4 Q50 Eaton's Beach. Then came our Sophomore year, with Mr. Flanagan as our sponsor. We began a sale of maga- zine subscriptions, to raise money for our class. We had many class parties during the year, but most mem- orable was our class party held at Eaton's Beach. Our Junior yearl This, we think, was our most exciting year. The first week of school we ordered our class rings and received them in October. At Christmas we were given a Junior-Senior party by the sponsors of both classes. Then on January 12, we presented our play, Life With Mama, under the supervision of our sponsors. Mrs. Davidson and Mr. Flanagan. We thoroughly enjoyed the studying, rehearsing, and everything else that is necessary for a good play. The ,A great event of the year was our banquet, given in honor of the Senior class. We used the theme, In An Old ' jj Fashion- ed Garden. The gym was beautifully decorated X as an old garden. Soft lights gave the illusion of moon- kv X light. The orchestra played during dinner and for the X - . H dance. What a wonderful time we hadl September 1950-- we are SENIORSI We f I Z selected our personal cards and invitations. Our invita- X tions are the first to feature an etching of our high school. In Jan- uary our pictures in caps and gowns were made. Early in Feb- ruary we selected our Senior play. Who will be in the cast? Wonder what the theme of the Junior-Senior banquet will be this year? Among the honors given to the Seniors were: Charles Peterson and L. J. Ramsey chosen on the all-conference football team, and Jane Gaines chosen to represent the Daughters of the American Revolution. Comes graduation! We are sad at the parting of our classmates and teachers although we look toward the future with courage. We would especially like to express our thanks to Mr. Flanagan for his guidance through the past three years, and to Mrs. Potter go our thanks for her kindly supervision this past year.
