. PARENTS' NIGHT S t if S Parents' night at the Bushnell High School was well attended by the adults of Bushnell and the surrounding communities. Mr. Garth, principal of the school, introduced Mrs. Binger, who led in the group singing. Following this, he introduced Mr. Button Marsh, a former student of the school and now a county service officer, who made a splendid talk. He particularly stressed the need for education, a fact that he discovered when the men were being inducted into the Army. Mr. Marsh explained the program now being carried out for the benefit of our war veterans. Florida, he says, is rapidly becoming school conscious , and he told something of our expanding education program. A humorous skit, The Little Red Schoolhouse , was given by some of the prominent men and women of the town ---- It seemed to recall their childhood pranks for they remembered all of the tricks children still play when the teacher is not looking. After the program in the auditorium, the teachers went to their class- rooms to meet the parents of their students. It acquainted them with the surroundings of their children and gave the teachers an opportunity to have discussions about the individual students. Such parent-teacher relation- ships are good for the school because only the best work can be accom- plished when the teacher fully understands the child's background. Delicious refreshments were served by the committee late in the evening. W. P. Davidson, supervising principal of Sumter County schools, lauded the motives of such activities and said that other schools in the county will arrange similar programs. It brings the parents closer to the actual work the child is doing in the schools, he said. This was one of the three Occasions in thelschool year when the school buses were used to transport the parents.
