I CLASS HISTORY S32 ' .X Well, here we are at the end of our high school A dy career. Let's put away the thoughts of the daygahead Em if and look back on the past. l In September of 1937, Mrs. Parker introduced KF many of us to our first taste of school. Our troubles K with the hard multiplication tables, fractions, and long c division during the first six grades are blotted out by memories of the fun we had together. Each of us looked forward to entering high school which we knew would be different. just think! We would change classes every hour! In each class we would have a different teacher! We would be able to enter the different competitive sports, and actually have study hall peri- od! Why, all of that was almost unbelievable. But soon we found that it was the same daily routine--school. Though we were a large class of almost equal number of boys and girls, when we entered high school, many of our boys, for various reasons, withdrew from school. Our class gradually dwindled down to five boys and twenty-five girls. With this number, we have proudly gone through high school days, chuck full of life and fun. Who can forget that beach party at Eaton's Beach for the Seniors, when we--the Freshman class--were hosts! What a trip--a truck ride, good eats, good swimming, and a grand crowd. During our Freshman year we were thrilled to have from our class, james Wade as king and Sarah Malory as queen to reign over the Halloween carnival. Beach parties and class parties were enjoyed by all throughout our Sophomore year. Mrs. Brenneis, who had been our sponsor for two years left us at the end of the term. We honored her with a farewell party and presented her with a gift. Then came our junior year. So many things in store: banquet for Seniors, dances after games, junior play, and class parties! The dances netted us little profit, but they were fun. With the aid of our Sponsor, Mrs. Davidson, we presented the play Grandad Steps Out . The banquet with Southern Plantation as its theme was a big affair. This was the year which was to set a precedent for having an annual Christmas patty for the juniors and Seniors. Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Potter, the sponsors, entertained both groups. We had a hilarious evening of fun, a Christmas tree, and gifts for all. The most happy event of the year was the getting of our class rings. We were about to become seniors! Q The senior year came in with a bang. Thirty happy seniors were looking forward to graduation. Before january 2, 1949, five of our class were married. f Marie Thomas Marsh and Erma Vann Connellcontinued X their school career. Success has been enjbyed through- . out, due to the hard efforts of our class as a whole, I to the guidance of our sponsor, and co-sponsor, Mrs. Potter and Mr. jones, and to the co-operation of our
