NORTON 13 POUND 35 The Pound Wildcats ran up 35 points against the Raiders before the Norton offense began to click. The Raiders scored twice in the last quarter. Paul Ramey galloped 45 yards for the first tally; the second came on a 60 -yard pass play from Gardner to Robinette. The Raider line hits hard. NORTON 13 PENNINGTON 6 Norton finished the 1960 season on a win- ning note. Hoyt McConnell scored the 1st touchdown in the 2nd period. Pennington’s single score came in the 3rd quarter on a short run. Norton ' s winning touchdown was made in the fourth quarter when Paul Ramey, outstanding offensive player of the game, ran 90 yards for the Raiders ' final touchdown. NORTON 7 CLINTWOOD 18 Hoyt McConnell capped a drive of 55 yards to score the Black Raiders ' lone score of the night. Raymond Shipp was the Green Wave ' s outstanding offensive player; he in- tercepted a Norton pass and ran 60 yards for Clintwood’s first score. The Wave managed to score twice more; final score 18-6. Larry Robinette trapped. NORTON 0 POWELL VALLEY 19 The Powell Valley Vikings won a shattering victory over the Black Raiders. Although the Raiders moved the ball well, they could not man- age to score. The Vikings were so strong on run- ning power that the Norton defense was not able to stop them. Goodpasture hemmed in. NORTON 0 COEBURN 26 Coeburn completely outclassed the Raiders. Norton ' s defense did not even seem to get started. The running ability of the entire Coeburn back- field was tremendous. The Knights dominated the entire game. Paul Ramey gets his man. Hoyt McConnell moves the ball. NORTON 6 ER VINT ON 26 The Ervinton Rebels pulled a tremendous upset over the Norton Raiders by defeating them 26-0. Michael Sutherland ' s passes brought them 3 touchdowns. The Raiders ' sin- gle score came late in the fourth quarter when Dick Goodpasture ran across the 3 -yard line with only 50 seconds remaining in the ball game. 72
