The Norton team played an outstanding defensive game, but the game turned out to be a heart - breaker when the Falcons finally managed to score in the closing seconds of the game. The first Raider touchdown came in the 1st period when Robinette scored on a 23 -yard pass from Good- pasture and ran 25 yards for the initial tally. Buren Bloomer intercepted a Garden pass on the Norton 37 and ran 63 yards for a touchdown. McConnell scored the extra point. Jerry Hall was the outstanding defensive player of the game. Norton ' s first score came in the 1st period, after Benny Bloomer had recovered an Appy fumble. Hoyt McConne ll scored the only tally. Appy scored in the 2nd quarter on an intercepted pass; the kick was good. Gerle Cassell tackled an Ap- palachia player behind the goal line to put Nor- ton in the lead again, 8-7. The Bulldogs scored again in the 4th period to win. Buren moves the ball.
