Women ' s Lib Our Grand Marais Junior Varsity basketball team is once again cham- pions of the Northern Lights League. This is the third time in the past four years that our Cubs have won the league championship. However, this season our JV must share the con- ference title with the Paradise JV, since both teams hold identical records of 6 wins and 2 losses in league play. In the final conference game of the season, the Cubs lost a thrilling dou- ble over-time battle to Paradise, 39-38. This loss enabled the Paradise team to become co-champions in the JV competition. This year Coach Carl Minor gave the local fans a new twist to area basketball by allowing a girl to be a member of the squad. Ramona Bailey, an eighth grade student, gave some excellent performances. As the season progressed, she be- came a regular starter on the team. At Mackinac Island, Ramona sur- prised the fans by scoring the first six points of the game on outside jump shots. She went on to the high point man - sorry about that - the hight point woman of the game.
