wmih Fund raising for uniforms. Where ' d you get that hickey? The 1974-75 Girl ' s Basketball Season was something less than perfect. Having a record of only one regular season win does not exactly tell the whole story though. Several of the games were very close, especially one played on Manis- tique ' s court which went into overtime. District tournaments were held in En- gadine this year and the Mama Bears won the first game, defeating the Enga- dine Eagles. In the second and cham- pionship game the Mama Bears lost to the Mackinac Island Lakers. This was the last year of basketball for three seniors, Mitzi Laeder, Sandra East- man and Joetta Handrich, the latter two having played since girl ' s basketball was organized at Burt Township School in 1970. Back Row (L. to R.) Mr. Becker, Coach, Nola Laeder, Lisa McDonald, Sandy Eastman. Front Row (L. to R.) Tammie Tester, Pam Martin, Joetta Handrich, Kim Begker, Lisa Allera Mitzi Laeder(Insert)

m Lm The Polar Bears did quite well this year winning a record fourteen out of seventeen regular games with Mr. Neal Beaver as coach. This year also a second record was broken in that the Polar Bears swept the Northern Lights League with 8 wins - no loss record to win the League Championship trophy. Basketball is a fun and exciting sport as most of its players will agree, but along with the thrill one gets out of playing the game there is a lot of hard work involved. The ex- ercising, the sprints, the layups all get to be sort of a drag after while, but when the players come charging out of the locker room on Friday night and hear the sounds of the cheerleaders and fans cheering, they get that great feeling of accomplishment know- ing that whatever hard and strenuous effort had to be made in getting ready for the game, it was all worth that one great mo- ment. Polar Bears, Left to Right - Front to Back: Art Gage (Insert), Monte Heacox, Pat Leftwich, Terry O ' DriseoU, Don Alverson, Marty Massey, Doug Loman, Joe Allera, Bob Johnson, Ron Tester, Fred Smith, Cliff Smith Neal Beaver. Coach (Insert) I ' ll catch va Fred ' It ' s time tor the old. ..One. ..Two. 28
