First highschool in Alger County. Located behind the present school. 1895 building was given a second story about 1905 and served Grand Marais until 1928. DIAMOND GRADUATION The Class of 1974 represents tne 75th graduating class from Grand Marais.. While the system made use of build- ings on other locations, there has beai a schoolhouse located near the plot of ground presently occupied by the Burt Township School since the beginning of school life here in 1885. Class picture might have had more boys but most were at work in the mills and too busy for such frivolities.
