A 1TG]1[§ D@ Grand Marais did well this year, with the Polar Bears having a won-lost record of 10-5, the Mama Bears having a record of 4-4, and the Cubs having a record of 5-5, The Teddy Bears won the two games they played against Germfask. The Polar Bears were defeated by Paradise in three extremely close games early in the year. We came back to beat the Rockets February 15th at Home coming 75-40. In our first two games with Alba we came out the victors in fairly close com- petitioHo Our trip to Wildcat Country later in the year was cancelled due to foul weather and Alba forfeited both games. GM boys did not go to Mackinac Island this year due to the Lakers dropping out of competition for the year. We hope they will rejoin the Northern Lights League again next year. The Cubs were beaten by the Paradise Launchers in all four games but GM showed a steady improvement by narrow ing the score with each successive en- counter. The Cubs had little trouble with the rest of their competition, beating them all except Manistiqje and oidy losing to them by one point. The Mama Bears split two games each with Manistique and Mackinac Island, We had no trouble with the Munis ing Mustangs but lost two close games to the New- berry Indians. The year was highlighted by close ex- citing games. Don ' t bug me chump! U(o)i[ K[] A Rfl[lR[]Ul He ' s wearing his legs! Don ' t buck it. During the 1973 Christmas Tournaments the Polar Bear ' s playing was excellent j On Friday night they beat Paradise by a ! score of 72-49, with only 13 turnovers a record for Coach Beaver ' s team. On Saturday morning they came back and beat Alba, to take the trophy with a score of 54-50 in a close exciting game.
