CLASS HISTORY The class of 1965 began its progression through the Burt Community School on September 1, 1952 when 20 eager students started kindergarten with Miss Patricia Brennan as their teacher. The members of this class were: Peggy Bates, Judy Cherland, Richard Gebken, Nicholas Geesman, Roger Giddings, Don Gifford, Shela Hawcott, Marlene Henderson, Carol Hiatt, David Hoernke, June Jenkins, David Kohlhaas, Dean Larsen, James Lovstad, John McKenzie, Jeanette Meyer, Maureen O'Brien, Donna Schrader, Judy Spry, Pat Woltz. Dur- ing the year the class gained Don Peterson, Bruce Larsen, and Jerry Helmers. By the end of the year the class lost, Peggy Bates, June Jenkins, and Jerry Helmers. Six new members joined the class in first grade with Mrs. Margaret Palmer as their teacher: Duane Nauman, Carol Smith, Sharon Peterson, David Mitchell, Peggy Bates, and Patricia Zwiefel joined the class. At the close of the year, the class lost Sharon Peterson, Peggy Bates, Don Gifford, Carol Smith, Nicholas Geesman, and David Mitchell. With Mrs. Christina Christen as their second grade teacher, Vera Chipman, Charles Groan, Richard Grady, Bob Melville, Gerald Noland, Eugene Meister, and Janice Abbas joined the class. Leaving the class was Vera Chipman, Charles Groan, Richard Grady, James Lovstad, John McKenzie, and Bob Melville. The third grade taught by Miss Nancy Ballard gained these pupils: Danny Castor, Linda Cooke, Dorothy Vanderhoff, and Rosanne Wiener. Mrs. Myrle Dutton taught them in fourth grade with this new student, Linda Lockhart, and Bruce Larsen leaving. In fifth grade their teacher was Mrs. Neoma Thompson, and these students joined them: Alan Schultz, and Alexis Rutledge. The class began sixth grade with Mrs. Beulah Lee as instructor. Sharon Peterson, David Harms, Kenneth Foster, Eddie Jones, August Sankey joined the class, and Duane Nauman, Don Peterson, Kenneth Foster, and Eddie Jones left us. Starting into junior high the class instructors were, Mrs. Grace Anderson and David Brown. Gerald Noland, Alan Schultz, and Pat Woltz moved away, and Shela Hawcott passed away. The class gained Connie Johnson, Darrell Parcel, and Pat Tostenrud. Starting into high school the class gained Jean Mescher. Pat Woltz joined us later in the freshman year. In Eleventh grade Carol Kastner came into the class and left a few weeks later. Sharon Peterson, Donna Schrader, Darrell Parcel left the class at the end of the year. In the senior year Mr. Richard Johnson and Mr. Thomas Herrick, as sponsors. The class gained Bob Melville, and lost Roger Giddings, and Rosanne Wiener. Five of the twenty graduates started to kindergarten together, Judy Cherland, Richard Gebken, David Kohlhaas, Dean Larsen, and Pat Woltz. 14
