The purpose of the FU- TURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA CLUB. organ- ized last year, is to stimu- late interest in teaching among high school stu- dents. The Burroughs chapter of FTA published and dis- tributed a school calendar as a service for the Parent Teacher Association an tl served the community by creating displays and pre- senting a skit for Public Schools Week. Each year one of their graduating members is awarded a two hundred dollar scholarship by the China Lake Educa- tion Association. uturt 'ilitathtrs uf Zlmtrita What have we here? A huge outdoor bulletin board, presented to the school by the FTA group. The project was completed in co-operation with the Blockbuster staff, which has the responsibility of posting school, national, and world news on the board each day. THE BLOCKBUSTER staff keeps a chronicle of day by day for Burroughs students by posting school, national, and world news clippings on campus bulletin boards. Bi-Weekly they publish the regular Blockbuster school paper in the Ridgecrest Times H erald. A backshop tour of Hub- bard Printing and a series of lectures added to the staff's understanding of journalism. The group is actually a journalism class, instructed by Mr. Wayne C. Harshg mem- bers receive full credit for the course.
