Roberts You kneel before his grave in silent prayer And sometimes even wish that he could be Here with you nowg and yet you know that We Are not aloneg you know that he is there Where all is bathed in Heaven's beauty rare. He lives with God in His Eternity, And even so, his soul is here with thee In answer to thy ever fervent prayer. He lives to climb the path of Calvary, To lay his foot on every tangled sod And evermindful of his Father, he Is treading where the Saints of old have trodg And as he climbs, we know that he will be Forever with our Kind and Gracious God. by Robert A. Yearlmnk Advisor The senior class of 1955 take this opportunity to express their deepest gratitude to Mr. O,Connor Whose untiring efforts and guidance made this yearbook possible. He not only acted as an excellent advisor, but also as a true friend. 5 Page Thirty-one CLASS HISTIIHY One crisp, sunny morn early in September, 1951, 140 freshmen, be- witched by teachers, bothered by homework, and bewildered by bells, entered into these hallowed halls of learning. We immediately elected Raymond Zifcak-president, Anne Mary Boylan-vice-president, Fred- eric Ford-secretary, and Arnold Bailey-treasurer. Our class advisor was Miss Ruth Gonyor. September 1954 - the senior doors swung wide, With thoughts of graduation day, our hearts were filled with pride. Gur happy days at B. H. Filled with anticipation, the seniors rushed to the cafeteria at 2:30 to select the class rings. The Bronco special, a round blue stone with broncos on either side, was finally agreed unon. The Yearbook Staff was chosen by the faculty, and Patricia Helm was elected as our Editor-in-Chief. Now to get all the work o fputting a year book together done in time. While the teachers went to school, at their annual Institute in Providence, we seniors sat smiling before Loring's cameras. Say cheese, everybody! The seniors held a food sale today, raising additional funds needed for our graduating class. Added to the customary festivities of Thanksgiving Day, the excitement of the Broncos' victory over Woonsocket High School made today's holiday meal even more enjoyable than usual. Open House tonight! Our parents came to school-got no assignments! The highlight of the evening was a chemistry demonstration, so aptly performed by two senior boys down in room 2! In the enchanting winter atmosphere of the gaily decorated hall, our Prom, Winter Wonderlandf' was held. We tripped the light fantastic to the melodic strains of Charpentier's Orches- tra. Joyce Russell was crowned queen. My, but don't we feel big! The long-awaited Christmas vacation has at last arrived, and as the spirit of Christmastide engulfs us, our thoughts turn toward peace and good Will. The sponsor drive began today, and all the seniors are busy canvassing their neighborhoods for sponsors. Hope we can reach that goal! The cast for our Senior Play was chosen tonight in Room 6. We hope it will be a big success! The sponsor drive ended today - at last the goal has been reached. The Glee Club tried something new this year by presenting an Easter Cantata, and the orchestra, with Guest Conductorf' added a note of humor! In all, a big success. Congratulations, Mr. Berry, and Fred! Curtain Going Up! The Senior Play, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, was an excellent presentation in three acts, un- der the direction of Miss Morin. Good work, future actors and actresses! Our Spring Pro1n! Laughing voices, pastel-colored gowns, gay decorations-all helped to make our last prom as seniors a big success! Our May Queen was Shirley Murphy. Our class banquet was held at Gus' Tavern tonight, and the Senior Farewell Dance given us by the Juniors climaxed a Won- derful evening. At last we've reached the end of a long, long trail. A lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun has gone to make our four years at B. H. S. years that we'll want to remember. We come to school today for the last time, not as seniors, but alumni! Good-bye B. H. S.--now it's up to us to go out and show the world all you've taught us! Roberts trophy, signifying victories over Vvoonsocket and Mount St. Charles. One remarkable feat of this year's team was its showing against three strong teams-Barrington, Colt, and Lockwood. The climax of the season was the defeat of a heavily favored Woonsocket team, 18 - 0, before 5,000 fans In addition to theseteam honors, many individual awards were received by team members. Don Marsh was awarded the most valuable player trophy in the Woonsocket game, Marsh, Ron Pepler, Norm Menard, Marcel Keable, John Racine, and Gene Brown were voted on the All Class C First Team, and Mall McCutcheon was voted on the Class C Second Team. Three players, John Racine, Marcel Keable, and Gene Brown were all awarded positions on the All State Team. The players must all be commended on their fine work, but much credit must go to Mr. Eccleston, and the assistant coaches, Francis Hauser, William Mousseau, and George Ducharme. In the New England Tournament, the Broncos, opposing St. Dom- inics, a pre-tournament favorite, were defeated by the slim margin of 2 to 1 in a hard fought contest.
