Cyrus .jshfsforg . On September 10, 1945, we climbed aboard the great ship that had been christened Class of Nineteen Hundred and Forty-Nine. Our crew of one hundred and forty-five was captained by Miss Barwick, who has brought us through many a storm. We enlisted for a non-stop trip of four long years, with the deter- mination that the ship would dock in June, 1949. In spite of many storms we are now nearing our destination. During our trip we have helped to keep Burrillville High School in the limelight. The finest of Burrillville's athletes have come from our crew. We have participated in all sports, winning the Class C Champion- ship in football for four years, State Championship in Hockey for two years and the State Championship in baseball in 1948. Members of our crew have ranked high in scholarships. As we are about to finish our course we have twellty'-Ol'1C in the R. I. Honor Society. As for our social life, when we were green Froshv and wise Sophs, we did nothing. In October of our junior year we had a Halloween Dance, which proved very successful. In our senior year we had a few dances, including a Get Acquainted Dancef' 'Tall Promf' Christmas Party, and a Spring Prom. In April, 1949, we put forth our best efforts in making the senior play, Little Jimmie Jones, one of the best ever. Ella Phillips was chosen Best Citizen of the D. A. R. and will receive a pin at graduating exercises. Some of our crew took part in the Model Legislature at the State House and the Model Congress which was held at Kingston. With a crew of seventy-two the ship christened the Class of Nine- teen Hundred and Forty-Nine is approaching its dock. We regret the loss of those who were unable to continue the course, and express our gratitude to all who have made this journey as pleasant as possible. 26
