Burrell’s Homecoming, of course. It was once again a beautiful day for Burrell’s traditional homecoming game and half-time festivities. Seniors from earlier years, proud parents, and students gathered to see the new Homecoming Queen, Krissy Settlemeyer, and her court. Krissy Settlemeyer and her escort Ray Sharick reigned over a court consisting of four couples, each representing their respective class. Leslie Wick, the senior at- tendant, chose Brian McNally to accompany her in the extravaganza. The junior class se- lected Charmayne Renock who was escorted by Todd Spires. Representing the sophomore class were Jamie Guiliani and Rich Fennell, and David Beal and Teresa Arnone were the freshman attendants. Hairy Legs Do Not a Good Kickline Make The festivities of Senior Weekend kicked off on Friday with the annual senior dress-up day and pep rally, with the sen- iors being greeted with candy-filled and ribbon-strewn lockers. Arriving in sportcoats and dresses, they were eager for their pictures to appear splashed across yearbook pages. The highlight of the day occurred at the pep rally, with the student body entertained with the an- tics of seniors dressed as majorettes, colorguards, and cheerleaders attempting to perform halftime routines (hairy legs do not a good kickline make). The weekend drew to a close on Saturday with the last home game against Freeport. Seniors, es- corted by their parents, were honored for their years of service to the school. se ( A Right: All dressed up and no place to go Above: Brian McCloskey ponders .. . “Is this what it's like to wear a bra? All forms were represented that fateful October 31st as the senior class dared to be different. The costumes were the combina- tion of ingenuity and planning or of something decided upon the night before. From the flappers to the fishermen, and the holy to the hardrockers, the seniors inspired a day of fun, frolic, and fantasy. Their winning record pro- vided them with the opportunity to compete in the W.P.I.A.L. play-offs. Unfortunately, their chance was snuffed out with a de- feat from Butler. Although the team was not able to advance farther, one member did get that chance. Under direction of Coach Pat Flaherty, the girls attempted to break a two-year losing streak. Unfortunately, their spirit and enthusiasm were not enough to propel them into the winner's circle. However, they counteracted their defeats with confident smiles and heads held high. Team captains, Shan Leslie and Christy Harris, each had a superb season with individual scoring highs.
