Junior Miss Burrell High hosted the 24th Annual Allegheny-Kiski Valley Junior Miss Pageant of 1985. Of the fourteen contestants chosen, five were from Burrell: Bettina Ardito, Leigh Ann Cappa, Lynne Clearfield, Kim Mazur, and Debbie Wygonik. The fourteen contestants danced to such hits as “Somebody's Watching Me,” “Thriller,” and “Ghostbusters.” The four finalists were: 3rd Runner Up—Laura Kampo from Springdale, 2nd Runner Up—Leigh Ann Cappa from Burrell, Ist Runner Up—Lynne Clearfield from Burrell. For the second year in a row, the finalist cho- sen to be the Junior Miss of 1985 was from Springdale—Nancy Ray Hutzler. For all those present, October 6, 1984, was a night to be re- membered.
