Special Teachers for Special Classes: Mrs. Norma White Special Education Ms. Sharon Rummell Mrs. Catherine Conroy Special Education Gifted One of the many new faces in Burrell is that of Mrs. Conroy, the Gifted teacher. Mrs. Conroy’s program deals mainly with developing and implementing an enrichment program for students identified as being gifted. Stu- dents work in the Gifted Re- source Center on projects of their . own choosing. Mrs. Conroy pro- ' vides guidance and assistance in obtaining resource material. Some of the projects chosen this year include genetics, photography, ca- reer study, independent study ' and future problem solving. The Mr; Joseph Yedlowskt students also had two enrichment Driver's Education days which they were excused from their classes to listen to speakers. Another addition to the Senior High was the Special Education class. The reason for this move was so that the students would have the opportunity to socialize with peers of the appropriate age; since they formerly resided in an elementary school. The main idea stressed is independence training, with the emphasis on students doing as much as possible on their own. One such skill is re- ceiving the correct change when purchasing an item.
