Fajbik Painting the fence around the football field this past summer is only one of the many activities performed by this year’s student council. They have also: organized Homecoming; made street signs; organized a Student Council Halloween dance; held the annual blood drive; and worked in cooperation with the Chemical People. In ad- dition to all of this, they have: provided as- sembly programs for the student body; held a sweatshirt sale; sold hot chocolate during the winter months; arranged to have the mu- sic group, Freedom Jam, return to Burrell: and held a computer dating program to find students’ most compatible dates. Robert Yohe was the first student at Burrell to receive both the Century Ill Leaders Award and the DAR Good Citizenship Award. Christine Modey received the Hugh O’Brien Award. eh th Bob Karrs, Kathy Kapustik, and Tim Hyland (missq), were the National Merit Commended Students Keith Orkis competed in both the Regional and State Welding Competitions

Pageant Participants Lisa Comperatore competed in the 1984 | Miss Natural Pennsylvania bodybuilding com- = petition and placed third in the women’s di- vision. Judging was based on formation of = muscles, routine, and poses. Lisa did her routine to “Just Be Good To Me.” She plans on entering this competition again nex t year in hopes of placing higher. She also plans to enter other similar competitions in the fu- ture. The 1984 Miss Natural Pennsylvania pageant was held in Washington, Pennsylva- nia. Tracy Ciesielski, a senior, represented Lower Burrell in the Miss T.E.E.N. of Penn- sylvania of 1983 pageant. The Miss T.E.E.N. pageant was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylva- nia, at the Philadelphia Centre Hotel. For her talent presentation, she performed a jazz dance to the song “Just Be Yourself.’’ Dur- ing the two days in which the pageant was held, the two-hundred contestants were judged in the areas of talent or patriotic speech, interviews, formal presentation, scholastic achievement and volunteer work. All two hundred contestants participated in a Walk-a-Thon through the city to raise money for charity. Miss T-E.E.N. of | jeant— Tracy Ciesielski This past summer, Leigh Ann Cappa participat- ed in the Miss Teen All-America pageant which was held at the Butler Holiday Inn. The three hundred contestants were judged on poise and ap- pearance, communication skills and judge's interviews, which were held before the pageant. Leigh Ann is a junior this year.
