The English Department at Burrell undoubtedly ranks high among neighbor- ing schools. ln addition to general and college prep courses required on all grade levels, Honors English is offered to those students who show special interest and talent in literature and writing. Advanced Placement English, offered only on the twelfth grade level, gives the most gifted students a chance to complete the equiv- alent of a college freshman English course by taking a standardized test at the end of the year. ' .coin-n.. Mr. Hince- makes use of his planning period. Senior English students discuss HAMLET. Over the years, the curriculum has expanded to include an impressive and varied list of electives including speech, drama, logic, and journalism for those students who wish to gain a full scope of English in its diversified forms.

Meanwhile back at the cafeteria . . . An everyday occurence at Burrell. Our dietician, Mrs. Elizabeth Vargo, provides the Burrell School District with a well-balanced menu. The cafeteria staff does excellent work in preparing and serv- ing the meals at lunchtime. Mr. Cal Borland helps to keep Burrell High in great shape. The job of Mr. Borland and the other custodians is a greatly diversi- fied one because, as Mr. Borland puts it, We do a little bit of everything. W 'I 9

QQ ff. xx Scientifically speaking, Burrell High of- fers a useful variety of courses for the inter- ested student. The choice of studies includes Regular Biology, BSCS, Biology ll, Regular Chemistry, Chem Study, Chemistry Il, Regu- lar Physics, PSSC, Earth 84 Space Science, and Nuclear Science.
