BURR OAK HIGH SC H O O L U N I F I ED DISTRICT 2 7 7 As old friends are lost through the passage of time, the 1966-67 school year will remain for fond remembrance in this yearbook. The ?ow Wow is published annually' by the Journalism Class of Unified School District 277, Burr Oak, Kansas. Unified School District 277 began its first year of operation for the 1966- 7 school year in this building. The building, formerly housing Burr Oak Rural High School, was completed in the summer of 1956 at a cost of $310,235 70. The building contains nine classrooms, a library, an auditorium, a cafeteria, and a gymnasium. This year, through its halls passed 86 high school and U9 junior-high students. The board had scheduled meetings on the first Monday of every month. There were thirty-one members in the class. After the trials of initiation, they settled down to school work and did extremely well. The freshman had concess- ions at the Notre Dame football game and at the Esbon basketball game. The freshmen also took the Differential aptitude tests this year. STUDENT COUNCIL President Ronald Saullira The main governing body of the students is the Student Council. It consists of a president, who is elected by the entire student body, and eight representatives elect- front the separate classes. The president this year was Ronald Smulllns. Among the Council' activities this year were painting the players bleachers in the gym; sponsoring the home- coming activities) sponsoring the Christmas assembly; sponsoring the Freshman initiation party; and the January 21 basketball concessions. Mr. Kaighin was injured in an automobile accident late in the fall, and was disabled until March, when he began teaching again.
