THE BUPTONIAN SOCIAL ACTIVITIES The social actxwxtxes at Burr and Burton thls year opened w1th the annual PICDIC or Mountaxn Day This took place on October 1' at Downers Glen A large number of the faculty and students enjoyed baseball and other games well adapted to arousing a hearty appetlte for the luncheon whxch was consumed near the brook Seven dances were held durmg the year startmg w1th the Freshman Reception on October 6 Music was furmshed by Ianms Orchestrn Durxng ll'ltCI'fIllSSl0l1 tl GCHIOFS entertaxned thexr guests wzth a shadow versron f Young Lochmwar A the Halloween Masquerade held on October 77 many attrxctlve and amusxng cos tumes were dxsplayed Because of the lar e attendance the umor Class was able to cancel all its past Indebtedness The Gym was very attractnely decorated w1th evergreens for the Sophomore Hop vthxch was held on anuary IZ Muslc was furnxshed by Gene North s Orchestra of Hoosxck Falls N Y and the dance met w1th well mented success A few loyal frxends of the class of 1935 braved the cold weather and attended the dance held ln the Gym on February Z1 Gene North s Orchestra agaxn furnished enlrvenmg musxc At the dance held on April 6 the baseball team rn umforms made of newspapers gave proof of their destitute condltxon However the dance was so successful that the team has blossomed forth In spotless new umforms The jumor Prom held on May 18 was a very festnve occasxon The dccoratlon committee headed by Betty Swift rs to be congratulated The crownlng event of the year IS always the Senior Prom The Semors wlsh to thank the Alumni ASSOCIHUOII and the unlor Class for thelr efforts rn malung the dance such a success Dormltory l1fe has been very pleasant thxs year as xn former years due to the devoted Interest of the teachers In October a dmner party was held to celebrate Halloween the faculty and their wxves attendmg Durlng November a Thanksgxvmg party was held slmxlar to the one ln October adding to the merrxment the faculty wanted on table In December the Chrxstmas party was held In the Snyder Room After the Chrrstmas tree Mr and Mrs ones furmshed a varxed entertalnment mcludmg charades Mrs Howes also had some very clexer xdeas whlch carried the party on throughout the evemng After thxs was llnlshed refreshments were served by Mrs Howes In February a small farewell party was held for Mr Frlley The sugarmg off party whxch IS qlllte tradltxonal and sponsored by Mr and Mrs Bullock was held April I3 The faculty and trustees were the guests A new ping pong table an the recreatron room perhaps rs the center of actlvxty bemg m constant use erther by the boys or grrls The Senxor Play The Goose Hangs H1 h by Lewls Beach dxrected by Mr ones was presented at the Dorset Playhouse on May 2 The play whlch IS faxrly representatxve of Amerlcan famxly lxfe of the txmes IQ especrally suxtable for amateur productlon although the cast whrch presented If appeared very professxonal T e very dxflicult part of Bernard Ingals was capably taken by Erxc Allen Jr Hrs wife Eunice lngals was played by Mxldred Healey w1th unusual sympathy and understand mg Vlrgxma White the peppery grandmother Mrs Bradley gave many laughs to the audxence The three yocng people of the famxly Sally Allen Davxd Beckwxth and Phrlxp Hxtchcock were unusually natural and spontaneous ln therr mterpretatron Two outstandxng personalltles ln thelr brxef parts were Mlcah Rugglcs as the socxal clxmbmg M O 23 . , L 1 1 44 . 7 . . , . . .
