It was as if they each had a mask on, and underneath, a different face. What will become of them, what will they do when their reign as seniors has ended? As I thought about it more, they really had changed, they had the same form, but a different meaning. They were no longer old friends or familiar faces, but people leaving their childhood behind and growing up. From that day on, I looked at them differently . . . not as life long friends, but as just another wave at sea . . . silently coming . . . and silently going . . . but leaving a reflection on all of us. For the past twenty seven years our school has hosted one or more American Field Service students from abroad annually. We now have Vickie MacDonald from New Zealand and Pierluigi Piva from Italy. Vickie is staying with the Davis' and Pierluigi is staying with the Gallop family. Lori Belisle THE PLAYERS Under the lights You lose yourself In being someone else With other thoughts Passions different from your own You are the character And he, you While no one watching can discern the two. You play the part As never done Never seen Fresh and new The part played many times before By other players Until the show is done And lights come down. Set clear For dust to settle on Another year.
