Finkie. cm MEMBERS OF THE GRADUATING CLASS: You and I have a great deal in common: the school year 1959-60 marks the conclusion of a career for us all. For you, commencement night means the end of your high school days as students. For me, it will mark the end of thirty-one years as a high school teacher and administrator. When we consider the long reaches of time, thirty-one years is but a tiny part of the whole world of 1929 - the year I began my career - the year that marked the end of the so-called Jazz Age or the Roaring Twen- ties - was a much different world from the one you know today. The roads were still full of Model T'sg many families still listened to radio with headphones hooked to a crystal set, some movie houses were still showing silent pictures, and Lindbergh's flight across the Atlantic was still being talked about. There were no thruways, automatic transmissions, television sets or atom bombs. So, you see, the world has changed materially since that day in Sep- tember, 1929, when I assumed my teaching duties at the old Hadley- Luzerne High School. Regardless of the changes in the world, however, there was something in my life that has remained immutable, and that is the pleasure and satisfaction I have had through the years working with young people. It is my hope, therefore, that you, the members of the class of 1960, will find similar satisfaction and happiness in whatever work you under- take, and that you, also, will find an enduring pleasure in whatever you choose. I Best wishes! ' A A A 9 Left Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. r to right: Smith Vincent Merchant Sharpley Sommerman Finkle Lockwood Gordon Hamlin Uline HEALTH MRS.
