The majority of us have been in Miss Zimpel's homeroom since our freshman year. We have seen how she has wisely guided, directed, and occasionally disciplined us, so that we might be better prepared for the years ahead. We have seen how she has taken a genuine interest in us and with patience and understanding has helped us with our problems. We have seen how she has given unselfishly of her time and talents in everything that we have undertaken, despite our shortcomings and irresponsibilities. To Miss Zimpel we owe our heart-felt thanks. We would hke to pay further trlbute to a few of our other teachers who have especlally glven of their tune and effort to gulde us ln our hlgh school days MISS Marlanne Cloppa servmg as co advlsor of our class through our hectlc junlor and senlor years has glven us asslstance of mestlmable value We deeply appreciate her help over the rough places and her constant effort to show us the rlght way To Mlss Ruth Coodwm we owe sln cere thanks for the enormous part she had m orgamzmg and assemblmg the advertlsmg sectlon of th1s book We shall also remember her for her lnterest whlle some of us were 1n her homeroom durlng our flrst two years We gratefully acknowledge the help patlently and thoughtfully gnen us by Mxss Rosetta Ashworth ln whose home room some of us passed our last two years 'gadfzd a cha i Seated: Miss Ruth Finkle, Clerk: Mr. Ross Cunningham, President: Mr. Axel Frleberg Mr Francis Stevens. This group spends much time and many sleepless nights in planning the new school, budget, and num- erous other matters of importance. They deserve hearty thanks for the great job they are doing. I O I yi ix Mr. Charles Wilfle, our high school principal. is a familiar fig- ure in the halls of Burnt Hills. He plays a hig part in establishing and keeping order in our school and is always ready to help us when we seek him. Mr. Walter Reid, our guidance counsellor. is giving Ronnie some good advice. He has helped all of us seniors with our problems at one time or another and often the underclassmen go to him for his counsel. Mr. Francis l.. Stevens is our supervising principal. We donit see him around the building as much as we would like to as he is working on the plans for our new high school. The Student Council is the voice of the student body in school affairs. The members are elected by their classes and remain on the Council for the rest of their high school years. The Council, with Miss Zimpel as advisor, meets every Tuesday during the activity period. With a nucleus of last year,s team, including seniors Harry Paquin, Frank Rychcik, Dave Campbell back, the B.H.-B.L. kickers got off to a rousing start this fall. They went undefeated through their first games until they ran into tough Waterford. There, in one of the best soccer games seen in years our boys lost a heart breaking 2-0 decision. After another loss to league champion Watervliet they started another winning streak which included sinking our new arch-rival, Schenendehowa, for the second time. They ended a very successful season with a T-4 record. SWL, Y :Mali K, i 7' S- . 'S ' Opponent B.H.-B.L. Opponent B.H.-B.L. 'Dig V70 R .si Here is the end of Bernt s letter and here we are at the last page of our hook. We are now in the last lap of twelve or thirteen years in public school. As these years draw to a close we look forward with some apprehension and regret to an event in the near future which will mark The End-Graduation. They say these years have been our happiest years. Maybe. Certainly we have many happy memories and acquaintances to remind us of these years. But now we are on the threshold of a new life-one of a new independence and added responsibility. Some will go on to higher educations and others will take jobs and establish new homes in this great country of ours. We hope that this hook will be instrumental in reviving cherished memories when we become widely separated. May God bless us the Class of 1954- and may we have many happy reunions. Sic vale.
