Creation Unlimited Creativity . . . perception . . . evalation . . . expression . The Art Department at BHS is an outstanding example of these factors. Weaving, painting, paper mache, charcoal drawings, linoleum printing — projects such as these play an important part in the life of an art student. A new accomp- lishment of the Art Department this year is the formation of the Art Club. The Clubs’ first contribution is the making and selling of original greeting cards. r ning Lis SO Mrs. Julia Cottrell instructs ninth graders. The introduction of mini-courses in history has for the past two years served to individualize history. On the oppoiste page, Ralph Smith, in Daily Hap- penings, learns about current events by reading the newspaper. The figurine, books, and map, represent some of the means of studying Indian and African cultures. Mr. Miller discusses Louis XIV with stu- dents in Mrs. Queen’s World Histroy class. To the left, students study Problems in Democracy. Mrs. Louella Shivers expresses a point to students.

The spirit and culture of Burns has been greatly improved by the music department. The Bulldog Band, di- rected by Mr. Bryant, performs at pep rallies, football games, and clas- sical music concerts. The chorus, led by Mrs. Enloe, performs for the pub- lic and student body. Susan South- ards, below, works hard to accom- pany the chorus.
