BHSHETBHLL 1950-'51 The IQSO-Sl gir1's basketball season began the third week of November with 40 girls reporting to Coach Edna Mae Etzrodt for the opening practice. The team was our down to 14. The preleague contests found the Burnham girls winning one and tieing one. Middleburg was defeated by a 3l-ll score. The second game with Middleburg ended with a 9-9 deadlock. The game with Juniata Joint was cancelled. The Mifflin County League opened on January 6 and found the Burnham girls in another deadlock with Armagh- Brown with a score of 30-30. Rheem and Nale hlt the nets for ll and I2 respectively. Belleville journeyed toliurnhamlanuary I2 and Burnham came out on top with a 42-31 score as Allenbaugh hir the nets for IQ points. January 19. found Burnham traveling to McVey1own, but proved to bevery unlucky for the Burnham girls as Mc- Veytown led the victory with a 35-28 margin. Rheem was high score for the losing team with 12 points. Yeagertown was played at home onjanuary 26. Although Yeagertown had the advantage of height, Burnhammade a very good showing by tieing with a 39 - 39 score. Nale tallied 22 points. February 2, found Burnhamplaying again wtthArmagh- Brown. The Burnham girls played very hard only to be de- feated by 1 point with the score of 28 -27. Nale scored 15 points for the losing team. The girls traveled to Belleville and gave Belleville a 41-28 lacing. Nale scored 16points andAllenbaugh scored I4 points. , McVeytown traveled to Burhham on February 19. but was very surprised when the Burnham lassies hit the nets for 58 points while they scored 35 pains. Rheem led scoring honors with 25 points and Allenbaugh with 24 points. On February 16, Burnham girls played at Yeagertown and put up a good fight but were again defeated by 1 point wltha score of 35-34. Rheem again was high scorer of both teams with 18 points. During the season Allenhaugh tallied Q4 points, Rheem 1o7, and Nale 121. One hundred and forty-one fouls were marked against the Burnham team through the entire season. The 1eam's record was 4wlns, 3 losses, and 3 Liu. Letters were earned by the following: Benner, Dean. Moore. Rheem, Allenhaugh. Nale, Bethlyon. and Man- ager- -Habbershon. BURNHAM AUTO SALES
