Is Illustrated in tors gave us the privilege of selecting whomever we wish for whatever office - be it Cheerleader, class favorite or Homecoming Queen. Through the Demo- cratic elective process, we are able to select those worthy of recognition. Representing the four BHS classes are these favorites, queens, and sweethearts. Democracy When we select those most favored by us, we turn again to our heritage. Our founders saw to it that each man had the privilege of a free vote. Those se- lected to represent us are chosen by the majority of the vote from the entire student body. Our ances- - . •- - , • • r , • ■ . In Sportsmanship Our heritage injects in us the idea of the fairminded. Based on our rights as individuals, we feel-impelled to acknowledge and honor the rights of others. The first ten statements of our constitution instill in us the desire to be fairminded and to respect as well as be respected by other individuals. On the playing field, in the classroom, in all walks of life, the idea of respect and sportsmanship is constantly prac- ticed. Pictured are BHS's pretty cheerleaders, Jo Ann, LaTrelle, Karen, and Kakie. Acting as Co-Captains, Hap and Dudley meet the Hillbillies's leaders before the Fredericksburg game at Burnet. Shaking hands showing good sportsmanship are Burnet Supt. J. L. Akridge and San Saba Supt. J. C. Petty. Each man supported the opposite team in '62. Beautiful girls and their handsome escorts represent themselves, their school and their country.
