Many of the boys of B. H. S. have already reached the age of eighteen; many more are nearing it. They will be our armed forces of the future—boys who seem like mere children. Somewhere in their minds, they are wondering if they should volunteer, and be in the branch of service they prefer, or wait until they are drafted. They are facing one of the serious decisions of their lives. The girls of the nation, not only of Burnet High School, are wondering where their part will be in the world to come. Some are even considering joining the Armed forces themselves. Perhaps it might be best after all. The teachers are wondering what they might do in order to better prepare the students for the future and are trying to do their best to fit themselves into their surroundings. We have always heard that in every cloud there is a silver lining. May we look ahead with high hopes that we may soon find that silver lining.
