Personality, Pursuit, and Perser- verence — these three attributes are the special qualities that come to one’s mind when one thinks of Sam Murphy. Sam is a very outgoing person. His personality has won him many friends. He has always been a cheer- ful and warm individual, giving of himself to others. No favor asked of Sam is ever turned down. His respect and consideration for others has manifested itself in this book’s being dedicated to him. Sam has always pursued the high- est ideals — academically and social- ly. He has constantly worked to bet- ter himself in his studies, on the field, and in his relationships with others. Perhaps the attribute of perser- verence best sums up the way we feel about Sam. Where many people would have given up under similar unfortunate circumstances, Sam has literally defied medicine and has made a miraculous comeback on his way to what we all hope is a complete recovery. He has perservered in spite of the pain, the set backs, and the tedious hours of exercise. And he has done it without a complaint. He is truly someone to emulate. It is with our prayers for your complete recov- ery, our respect for you as classmate and sportsman, and our love for you as a friend that we. The Graduating Class of 1976, do sincerely dedicate this yearbook to you, Sam Murphy. Play it again, Sam!
