FRIENDS TO GIVE YOU COMFORT HAPPINESS TO KEEP YOU SWEET ENTHUSIASM TO LOOK FOR TOMORROW HOPE TO KEEP YOU HAPPY S UCCESS TO MA KE YO U EA GER FAIL URE TO KEEP YOU HUMBLE TRIALS TO KEEP YOU STRONG WEALTH TO MEET YOUR NEEDS V To Give You Comfort ;J$y: f ' ; k THU . - Turning a school upside down was not the aim of the Class of‘75, but with a roar- ing four years, the Class contributed a metamorphosed Student Government, one of the first black Class Presidents, and a plethora of innovative ideas and outbursts of spirit. The Class of‘75 was one of the main causes for the reversal of a trend that was beginning to lean toward student apathy, when the ‘75ers were in their early years at B.T. The graduates of 1975 are the last stu- dents to spend the full six years of 7th through 12th grades at the High School. This yearbook is respectfully dedicated to every student and faculty advisor who ever belonged to the illustrious Class of 1975. Seniors Happiness To Keep You Sweet Hope Q ? 'W Keep wm? ) You Happy Success To Make You Eager Trials To K eep You Strong Happiness To Keep You Sweet SENIOR OFFICERS: (L. TO Rl Robbi Ewell. President; Vanessa Yaniro, Secretary; Jane Mor- row, Treasurer; John Albano, Vice-President SENIOR CLASS ADVISORS: Mr. Michael Gollnick and Miss Susan Galgano This year’s Senior Class officers and advisors did a superlative job on the organization of the Senior Trip. They carefully inspected and evaluated all the possibilities for the Trip. The dance sponsored by the Seniors also involved hard work for all the officers and advisors. The general guidance and direction lent by these fully competent people made the senior year just a little more tolerable for everyone. The membership in- creased along with interest in the club. The F.T.A. set up Parent’s Night again this year. After almost being put out of existence, the club made a come- back. This year also marked the first time a male member was admitted. , F.T.A. Library Aides The new library addition provided quite a challenge to everyone involved in the maintenance of the place. The larger size and shift of positions were advanta- geous after everything was settled. The Library Aides kept doing their quiet, responsi- ble job in a very efficient manner throughout the transition. Although the Ski Club isn’t an officially sanctioned school organization, it has a large membership and many fine activities for its mem- bers. The Club sponsored trips to Big Boulder in the Pocon- os and Vermont. They also held a ski fashion show with models and films. Ski Club Model Congress Although B.T.’s delegation to the 1974 Model Congress didn’t come back with any awards, all the “Congressmen” enjoyed a rare learning experience. Most people seem to have misconceptions about the work- ings of real legislatures. Model Congress smashes illusions for the participants, and serves to illumi- nate the problems that legislators face. A.V.A. broadened its uses this year with the centralization of school copying procedures. A mimeograph and photostat ma- chine were added to the opera- tions by the girls’ gym. Along with the video-tape serv- ices and general picture and sound equipment, the A.V.A. depart- ment has many excellent educa- tional aids. A.V.A. Honor Society For the first time the Honor Society inducted se- niors during the first half of the school year. This action permitted these students to have the extra advantage of the Honor Society name on their college applications. The seniors were given no- tice of membership in De- cember, but the ceremony included both seniors and juniors at the end of the year. The Honor Society also held sales to raise money. Girls' and Boys’ State are two endeavors which at- tempt to take top students who are also good citizens and show the how to operate a state. The time spent on this includes election cam- paigns and voting. The premise is one of set- ting up a mock state govern- ment. Girls’ and Boys’ State Key Club The Key Club had a strong itin- erary for the 1974-75 school year. Its best effort was the work it did with Operation Santa Claus. The club helped collect and distribute canned goods and toys to needy families in the Township. New members were accepted into the club only after being initi- ated by singing the club song God Bless America. The Key Club sponsored a hockey game to help raise funds. The club’s scholarships amount to the largest sum given at gradu- ation by any person or organiza- tion. The Varsity Club got moving this year after working out organ- izational hang-ups. The fledgling club worked out a constitution and began accepting membership applications from those not al- ready in the club. The requirements were not very stringent, with the main qulific- tion being a varsity letter. Slave Day was held again by the club. Varsity Club School Store The School Store contin- ued service with many fasci- nating promotions. Falcon tee-shirts were hawked along with the whole line of B.T. gear. School supplies continued to be the staple merchandise. During Sam Murphy Week the Store handed over its receipts to the Fund. The F.B.L.A. was flour- ishing again. Miss Turner took over the advisorship and with the help of highly energetic members, helped to make the club a success- ful enterprise. More hard work and in- terest were injected into the club this year. F.B.L.A. Falcon The Falcon continued its trend of interesting and informative fea- ture articles. With a magazine style format the Falcon has been ablp to concentrate on good pho- tos and in-depth background arti- cles as opposed to hard news. Snack Shack The Snack Shack opened its new building this past football season with good results The building helped improve service to the fans. Mr. Vizzacco became advisor of the operation after Mr. Goll- nick stepped down.. C.l.E. The C.l.E. under Mr. Hersh- berger has helped many students find good jobs while staying and finishing High School. The pro- gram’s excellence has been proved again and again. At Christmas the C.l.E. helped out poor families with collected canned goods. Language Club The Language Club got a new advisor for the 74-75 school year. Mrs. Evelyn DiMaria became Language Department Head this year, and she also took on the Language Club. The Club sponsored its annual International Dinner in early ’75. Fire Squad The Fire Squad carried out its tradition of keeping excellently run fire drills as one of the prides of B.T.H.S. The Squad had a record number of female members this year. Bulletin Board The Key Club takes care of the Bulletin Board messages, and the two caretakers this year were Key Clubbers Mike Vitulloand Bill Vansciver. They normally signed the Board in front of the flagpole with “compliments of Key Club was another favorite. WINTER SPORTS BASKETBALL GIRL'S BASKETBALL WRESTLING COMPLEMENTS OF KEY CLUB S. U.R.E. The activities of S.U.R.E. were varied and evergetic this year. The students gave a Christmas basket at Yule time for the needy. S.U.R.E. also held a Tal- ent Show this year. The club also made displays for Afro- American History Week. S.U.R.E. sponsored Gospel Singers from Willingboro for Sam Murphy Week. Although they compiled a 4-5 record, they had great enthusiasm and usually put on a good show. Most of the games weren’t decided until the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. The Fals overpowered heavily favored Burlington City 7-6; along with many smiling faces came a Mayor’s Cup. This trophy will be given to the winner after every Township-City game as the years progress. Many sophomores and juniors delivered fine perform- ances. This factor, along with good coaching should pro- vide the Fals with a dynamite team next season. Although the squad won only 4 games this year. Coach Masters has an admirable 11-6-1 record. The final slate of 7 wins and 5 losses is not in itself truly indicative of the fine running the squad did. For many meets the team was without some of its top run- ners. and close decisions went against the Fals. In many other encounters, a few harriers had to run while being nagged with various ailments. The Township runners turned in a highly respectable year, and they beat both arch-rivals. Burlington City and Florence. Good underclassmen assure the team of further good fortunes. Hockey After years of rebuilding, the 1974 Hockey Team reg- istered a winning season. An overall record of 4-3-5 es- tablished the Falcon girls as a strong threat in the Free- dom Division. Strong victories over Holy Cross and Bur- lington City helped increase the total number of wins. More importantly were the ties with the best teams in the division (Northern Burlington and Bordentown.) Three of the four wins were shutouts and no opponent tallied more than three goals against the Fals. To what can this fine season be credited? Maybe it was something in the oranges at halftime. A record of 6-6-2 may be very deceptive; the Falcons were defeated by some strong rivals. The soccer men of Township established a half season record that was good enough to give them a berth in the post-season tournament. Defense led by senior goalie Frank Ibbitson and offense by senior Marty Dorward brought the Falcons through a few rough times. The middle was held down by junior Andy Sawyer. They kept the string alive of having not been beaten by cross-town rival Burlington City in any varsity fall sport. Kick Through a Fine Year B. Mr. Moss has been basketball coach for only two years, but his expensive service in other sports makes him one of the most knowledge- able mentors in the school. Mr. Holden’s explosive offensive forces accumulated a team batting average of nearly .270 and were never shutout in 21 games. The exciting season capped off the brilliant coaching ca- reer of Mr. Joseph Holden. Mr. Holden has enjoyed many successes throughout his career, including a South Jersey championship. Although his final season’s output was 9 wins and 12 losses, many were heartbreaking defeats which could easily have been Falcon victories with a few more breaks. This season was a fitting last hurrah for an inimatable coach, Joe Holden. The 1974 Track season had more indi- vidual successes than team accomplish- ments. The field force was held together by Gerry Dennion and junior Monte Burr. Underclassmen, Mark Mancini, Rick Tanner, Clarence Morris, and Gil Barner, were top notch sprinters who garnered most of the teams points. Long distance runner, John Wade, also helped form the backbone of the Falcon team. The Falcons season ended with a record of 3 wins and 9 defeats, the victories coming over Allen- town, Camden Vocational, and Northern Burlington. The talents and abilities of individuals may vary, but without the vital ingredient of teamwork, individual abilities are meaningless. Teamwork is also vital in any industrial enterprise. At our Bristol and Croyden plant locations, the Rohm and Haas team consists of nearly 2200 men and women. They help produce a wide range of chemical products that play a part in everyday living. Plexiglas® acrylic plastic shows up as tail lights on cars, windows in schools and furnishings in homes. Rhoplex® acrylic emulsions are used in paints, floor polishes, and for treating textiles. Our ion exchange resins soften water. The list is practically endless. The team that produces these products includes chemists, engineers, chemical operators, accountants, stenographers, mechanics, instrument experts. The holders of these individual skills share a common talent—the ability to work together. It results in a winning team—just as it does at your school. ROHM IHRRS PHILADELPHIA. Sam subsequently had to go through long treatment to regain movement. To help with the massive cost, the students and faculty of our school conducted various enterprises which made thousands of dollars for the Sam Murphy Fund. Many other schools also contributed money. Sam is a courageous athlete. His spirit in the face of so great a tragedy has shown him to be the type of person we all should strive to be.
