. . Aetion “All life is ebb and flow.” The cultiva- tion of a highly competitive spirit along with good sportsmanship is the goal of athletics at B.T.H.S. The abili- ty to think logically and clearly in the midst of action is a goal towards which every participant must strive. A com- plete student must develop coordina- tion and some physical skills. Those who excel bring much honor to them- selves and to their school. Yet those who are consistently third or fourth, or who make the“second string,” bring as much honor upon themselves as do those who are first. Persistence, endurance, and desire are as valuable in the second man as in the first. Action is not only found in sports, but all around us. It takes only an alert mind to find it. 6

. . . Learning Learning is like rowing upstream; not to advance is to drop back. Learning is the business in which ourstudents areen- gaged. Learning facts and learning ideas are both important. Facts are stored for later use, ideas for later learning. One cannot exist without the other. Learning frequently involves listening to things we don’t like to hear or sometimes to those things with which we agree. Learning is a personal experience as we learn about our limitations, our capabilities and our thoughts. Whatever else it may be, learn- ing is for each of us unique.
