Monaco At the beginning of the basketball season Coach Joe Flannery set his goal for the 1966-67 court campaign. “We're out to make the tourna- ment this year,” he said. It was a long, tough road. The previous best record for a BTHS hoopster team was 6-15. This year we lost three league games in the first half of the season and placed second in the Washington Twp. Christmas Tournament. The Falcons came on strong in the second half of regular season play. They were undefeated in league play, but finished second in the Delaware Valley League. In the tournament the Falcons defeated three South Jersey teams to capture the Group 1 crown. The vanquished were the Kingsway Vik- ings, Florence Flashes, and Pitman Panthers. After defeating Cedar Grove in overtime bv a 62-60 laley. BTHS be came the youngest school ever to enter the finals of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association basketball tournament. Despite the fact that the courtmen shot fifty per cent, they were defeated by Lconia. Vince Monaco, in a valiant one-man effort, scored six- teen points in the last quarter before the largest crowd (12.001) ever to witness a basketball game in Convention Hall. Among the honors earned by the team w ere Vince Monaco's position on the All State Group 1 team and Kick Fort s spot on the honorable men- tion list for All South Jersey. Coach Joe F’lannery not only achieved his goal, but was named Coach of the Year by the Burling- ton County Times. 86 AKSITY nPPOM.NT llighl'lown Konirntown Kl T lll ' J S I) llrtYtn n PriritM-riwn tt 0..n ldn Tup Mill .lie frnnmclon Jjm - liur North Burlington Kloren e Holy Cru IlifhtMotan H nlrnt n F.Camdm Regional NJS.I) Mlrntoon Prmbrrton Jamv b'ir North Burltnglo Horrrnr i'i niuii£(un Tournament- Km I lor.nn Pitman IZttuirt.ftlowr l u-mi-Kinel (.ilw I nlirOrotr |2I '•III' h loW l Slat - hmal Imm. 121 « Bills TRACK BACK: B. Leroy Class Editor NEW ASPECTS OF SCHOOL LIFE Many new things have been added to the 1966-67 scene at Burlington Township High School. A new class of architectural drafting was successfully established. The band received their long-awaited uniforms. An apple machine did a thriving business under the auspices of Student Council. Taylor McCormack became the new voice of the Falcons. Two exchange students, a junior. Evelyn Thjoernelund from Puerto Mont. Chile, and a senior. Jaime Llambias from Santiago. Chile, came to vis- it BTHS through the Open Door organization. These two students stayed with Marsha Spencer and David Hope from December 31, 1966 to March 11. 1967 BAM) MEMBERS: J. Hubler. T. The course is designed to familiarize students with modern architectural practice, problems, and employment opportunities. Students draft floor plan sketches, perspective drawings, and working drawings for a structure of their design. A scale model is then constructed from the working drawings as one objective of the course. R. Bozarth completes the house of his own design assembled through the drafting class. Drafting students B.
