THE BAND One of the outstanding organizations of the school is the BHS band under the direction of Mr. Maurice Wright. The season begins with the football games at which the band plays and marches. The pep band also enlivens our pep assemblies with their school spirit songs. No parade would be complete without the music of the band, the members of which proudly wore their new uniforms of purple and gray. After football season ends, the band starts again by appearing at all the basketball games. A pre- view of the band concert was given to the mem- bers of BHS the week before the annual band concert which was held March l2 in the Me- morial Auditorium. Soloist this year was Mr. Dale Kimpton of Macomb, Illinois. Their season ended with the trip to Davenport for the Music Festival. ZAR. MAURICE 'JIFIGHT Zbcmd

Started about Christmas time, the boys' and girls' glee clubs sing mainly for tun. They meet twice a Week before school. Membership is on a purely voluntary basis, and is open to anyone who wishes to participate in the club, and who will give up his or her time to extra- curricular music. The glee clubs also pro- vide a portion of the music in the annual spring concert which is held each year in the Memorial Auditorium. This year the girls sang mostly classical music while the boys sang songs about girls. Under the direction ot lflr. Brandon Mehrle, these groups provide an oppcrtunity to sing for those who cahnot tit a class in music into their school schedule.
