It was the first defeat suffered by the Hawks in a series of impressive victories over six schools, including several four-year ' colleges. The only serious defeat was met at the hands of the Scots, Monmouthis strong eleven. They won seven, lost three, and tied one game. Seasorfs Record in Football llnrlingtnn Opponents U .........,. They proved this by edging out Creston in an overtime game, the last game of the state tourney. With just seconds to go Don Green tossed in a basket to tie the game. Then the Hawks settled down and added four more points to ubring home the bacon. The largest delegation of rooters to follow a Burlington team to a tournament, at least in recent years, went to Creson to help the Hawks win. From all appearances they were what the team needed. The Men's Union won the approval of the townspeople by having a public broadcast in the highschool auditorium. Hugh McLaury kept up a running account of the plays over a leased telephone wire, to Mr. Oathout, who listened and then relayed it to rooters in the auditorium. They had all local fans on the edges of their seats during the Final game. Slate Championship Team members are: Capt.
