Faced, as in football, with opposition mostly from four year colleges, the basketball team and Coach Vernor Trowbridge cannot be praised too highly for their fine spirit against more experienced teams. Our hoys defeated such teams as Parsons and Quincy hy decisive margins, well as pushing such teams as Monmouth, Carthage and Joliet to the limit, In it's own league, BJC defeated Muscatine, Albia and VVash- ington once, dropping' one game to each of these schools hy close scores. They were eliminated from the State tournament by Graceland Junior College in a tough battle. Capt, Loren Schultz led the offense during' the year by accounting for 122 of the team's 492 points. The starting: line-up remained the same for every game played, whether at home or on the road. It consisted of Schultz and Koerncr as guards, Dodds at center, and Hayes and Esau at forward positions.
