ULIB PA As I sit in my laboratory wondering if the newest invention of the Atomic World, the time machine, really works, I think to myself, Well, why not try it? So, as the experiment begins, the time machine goes back to the year 1946. ln September of that year a group of eager, ambitious freshman entered Burlington High School. No longer were we children, but we were on the long road that leads to adulthood. We started out on the road by electing Bill Moore, president, Carol Stuekey, vice-president, Betty Thompson, secretary, and Buell Moser, treasurer. Our year was made sad by the death of our beloved classmate, Tut Kemp. But time slipped quickly by and soon we were on a much awaited vacation. The following September we returned with our role as mighty sophomores. Under the guidance of Mr. C. C.'Linnemann, our principal, and the help of our ofHcers, Bobby Ellington, Bobby Glenn, Ann Cobb and Hugh Barrett. we made it a great year. Biology, Latin, English and Algebra were our big subiccts, and how we labored over them! All those who struggled through Latin were uncertain about the future of julius Caesar and sometimes their own. Therefore it was with much relief that we bade farewell to B. I-I. S. and said hello to the old swimming hole. The summer whisked by and we came back to the halls in which, by now, we felt at home. A big task rested upon us, so we chose the officers that were most capable of pulling us through. They were Buell Moser, Bill Hockaday, Grady Beck and Garland Tickle. The class felt proud as different mem- bers we.re elected to the Honor Society, Y-Teen and Key Club. This year our football team under the leadership of our new coach, Mr. Stan Huffman, won the Westem Class A A Championship. Miss Betsy Hellen, our adviser, proved to be just wonderful in helping with our most important project, the junior-Senior Prom. Thus all missions completed, we ended our best year thus far with memories of lessons, games and, yes, that's right-that never-to-be forgotten junior-Senior Prom. Seniors! at last! It was a long hard road. Was it worth it? You can bet your life it was! Getting ready for the best year yet, we elected our oiiicers-Grady Beck, john Smith, Ann Abercrombie and ,Ioyce Clemmer. Other members of the class were appointed to various jobs: Frankie Strader, Editor- in-Chief of the Dor:-WAH-jAcK, Hunter Strader, Editor of the Barker, and Bobby Ellington, President of the Student Body. With Great Expectations we entered our classes only to be floored by term papers and contracts. Again our football team made history by being the Western Class AA Champions . Many individuals on the team also won honors. We were realizing at last our name of respected seniors. Then came the thing for which we had worked for 12 years, the long awaited diploma. As I look back over these years l think we have truly followed our motto to aim high but reach higher. Due to the ideals implanted within us by our school, we are better prepared to help smooth the troubles of the world so that children of succeeding generations may enjoy as wonderful a high school career as we have had.
