For those who wish to study music as a major subject, special courses are provided. Students who enjoy singing may join the Gen- eral Chorus or the Girls Glee Club. Young Thespians demonstrate their talent in musicals sponsored by the senior class. Instrumental students find their place in the School band, or spe- cial groups such as the Dixieland Band. Thus music, “the soul’s own speech”, finds its many forms of expression within the department. i Fine Arts Department The art program of Burlington High School stresses creativity, visual percep- tion and self expression. The program offers five courses of study which are conducted in a relaxed studio atmos- phere. The program endeavors to de- velop a keener awareness of aesthetic values and to provide an opportunity to explore personal interest and aptitudes. A study of art history is made for further understanding of cultures past and pre- sent. The program strives to develop a sense of selectivity in the use of art at home, in the school, and in the commu- nity. For those students who wish to con- tinue in art or its allied fields as either a vocation or avocation, courses offer a basis on which to build. Mr. Deechan Department Head Mr. Lussier Mr. Wood
