The Horticulture Shop, as part of the Burlington County Vocational School Chapter of the Future Farmers of America QFFAJ, is involved in many aspects of the field. These areas include: landscaping, grounds maintenance, vegetable and flower gardening, shrub and tree nursery, orcharding, greenhouse crop production, beekeeping, retail florist sales. During the autumn of the year, the Horticultue shop is busy with outside lawn maintenance and tractor driving activities. Along with the indoor holiday florist sales of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Christmas time, is a special time for the shop, because of our annual Christmas Open Greenhouse, where we sell Horticulture grown Poinsettias and student made pine wreaths, floral arrangements, pine cone crafts, and fruit baskets. After this busy season, the shop is con- cerned with landscape blueprinting and design, and also potting up Geraniums along with other spring crops, until the Valentine's day Holiday creeps up. This love filled holiday tends to be very popular, especially among the student body. National Future Farmers of America week is always a terrific time for the members and officers to celebrate. As this year's highlight, a fund raiser was done and all proceeds went to the United Way of Burlington County. FFA badges along with blue bountineers and gold roses QFFA colorsj were presented to the faculty and staff of the school. St. Patrick's day holiday sales are a real success by selling forced pot- ted daffodil bulbs grown in shop. The school's Open House during March, is a time that the public can visit and purchase houseplants and silk floral arrangements. When spring comes to mind, planting is first on the list both indoors in the greenhouse, and outdoors in the flower and vegetable garden. Easter sales of fresh floral arrangements and green house grown Pink Hydrangeas QSnowballsj , are something to look forward to. As is the Mother's day sale of vegetable and flower bedding plants, Azaleas, Geraniums, and houseplants. As the seasons change and flowers blossom into spectacular colors, we like to think , so does the Horticulture shop. Mr. I. Petronglo Advisor Mrs. P. Hoffman Assistant Mrs. A.
