Bcvdey ‘r iy i ScfooC (?A ntotte4vi(jCe, l ai pi ua •X- 0 ?onew nd The class of nineteen and sixty is bidding you farewell. But for your enjoyment, our dear readers, we have attempted to record some events of our high school life which we will forever hold dear to our hearts. Although our high school days are over, the happy and fruitful moments which we knew here at Burley will never be for- gotten. It is our hope that as you look at this book, in years to come, you will recapture these moments, and realize that on these pages are written parts of the story of the happiest and most memorable years of our lives. Co-editors of the Jay Pee Bee Staff Property of The Library of Virginia Richmond, VA 2 ' DecUcattatt We, the members of the 1960 senior class of Jackson P. ' Burley High School wish to dedicate this annual to our former principal, Mr. Eugene G. Mobley, whose heartfelt interest and sincere loyalty have served as a guid- ing light in aiding us in developing qualities of critical thinking and attitudes necessary for successful living. Many students, who began high school with you, are not counted today with the class of 59-60; unfortunately, they are numbered with the educational casualties. It is my sincere hope that you may regard this measure of progress as an indicator of what can be done by serious effort. As you ascend or scale the ladder of preparation for life’s work, or as you enter into the world ' s work to make your contribution, may you ever be mindful of the dignity found in honest toil, the respect and honor inherent in clear thinking and clean living, and the wide expanse of your influence when guided by the Still Small Voice. Burley expects much of you. As a graduate, and as an alumnus of Burley, carry her banners boldly and her colors proudly; uphold her good name unashamedly; and let each act on your part ever cause your ALMA MATER to claim you proudly as a loyal son or daughter.
