The girls basketball team, under the direction of Mrs. A. W. Pleasants, began the season by defeating Downing High School of Lexington, Virginia. Since this was the first year of basketball at Burley, there were many persons anxious to participate in this sport. The team played eight games this season, winning four and losing four. We regret very much to lose eight of our players by graduation, but we wish them much success in the future.
