-'93 M REX HALL w President www' VIRGINIA MEQIIAM Vice-President LEOLA CLAYTON Treasurer 1 JEANETTE REDFIELD Secretary Student Government SEVERAL years ago the Burley High School modeled its student government after that of the United States. The president must be elected from the Senior Class. It has been the custom to have the vice-president, who is president of the Senate, elected from the Junior Class. The Secretary and Treasurer are appointed from the Senior Class. The Burley High School Senate is made up of elected representatives from the home rooms of the three classes. The Senate regulates school affairs, introduces and approves bills and super- vises the school organizations. The House is composed of the Faculty. All bills must pass both houses before they become school laws. The School Court interprets the laws of the school and determines the constitutionality of the laws. The Preamble to the Constitution of the Burley High School is as follows: We, lhe sfuzleufs of fhe Burley Senior High School, in order io esiahlish a representaiive form of goverimzerif, encourage good school citizenship, promote student and faculty co-operation, aufl fo assure for ourselves and for succeeding classes a responsibility for the welfare and good oyljr of the school, do ordain and establish this constiiuiion for the Senior High School of Burley, I aao. 10
