The Junior Fun lfrolic was a great success. it had every feature of any good carnival and dance. The annual Junior Prom was given on the fourteentl of May Our Class has been very outstanding. The foot- ball team was composed mainly of Junior members as was also the basketball team. Max Warr also brought much fame to our class. He placed first in the F. F. A. In the annual Armistice Day game. Burley was defeated X, by their traditional rivals. the Rupert Pirates. Rupert scored the only touchdown of the game in the first seven ' 'L minutes of play. The Bobcats completely dominated the rest of the game, reaching scoring distance several times but failing to score. Nevertheless plenty of new material made the pros- pects for a successful season fairly bright. During the first part of the season the Bobcats gained a great deal of valuable experience, Their conference record shows five wins and eight losses. giving them a Class A standing of seventh place. The Bobcats finished the sea- son with three whirlwind triumphs. avenging two defeats. The climax of the regular playing season came when Burley defeated their arch rivals, the Rupert Pirates. After a close fight during the first three periods before the largest and most tense crowd seen in the new Burley Gymnasium. the Bobcats came out on the long end of a 19-15 score. upf setting all previous,statistics. The Bobcats were rated as the underdogs against the much larger Twin Falls Bruins. The Bruins lead by a slight margin at half time. but the Bobcats staged a brilliant rally winning the game by a score of 25-20. Although the Bobcats were rated seventh in the dis- trict. they finished the annual Glass A District Tournament tieing Gooding for third place. They dropped their first game of the tournament to Buhl: and then followed up by eliminating both Filer and Twin Falls in the next two games. Their second defeat came when Buhl defeated them l7'l6, the closest game of the tournament. Letters were awarded to Ray Powers. The next meet. also held at Burley, resulted in Burley's taking 78 points to win over Rupert with 65 points- At this meet Burley qualified thirteen entries for the district meet, The boys participating in the district meet were: Clarence Glover, Ray Powers. LaVern Bell, Norman Nielson, Harold Gibson, Ernest Craner, Bob Lynch. Meredith Lambert, and Leamon Lambert. First in this district meet, Burley gathered 33 173 points, while Twin Falls placed second with 30. XVORTHINGTON Track l936-37 Burley placed second in the inter-district contest, qualifying Bell and Craner, In the state meet, the following week, Craner took the pole vault with the bar at ll feet 4 7fl6 inches. His three attempts with the bar at one inch above 12 feetlthe state record were unsuccessful. He also tied for first in the high jump. taking a total of 916 points. Bell won the shot put with a heave of 46 feet ll 3X4 inches. took second in the discus event, had a total of 8 points. The two boys on second place in the meet for Burley. Competing against 37 schools. they proved themselves real champions. On lfriday November ll. the Spinster Skip. sponsored annually by the club was held in the gymnasium. A jinx idea was carried out in the decorations of black and silver. A floor show was given by the physical education classes April 2. Dancing and tumbling were featured. The annual May Fete. with about 250 girls participating was held May 9. The officers are.
