VEIGH MILLER Co-Editor ' Co-Editor J Business Manager Sponsor SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE Congratulations to the members of the annual staff for the pro- duction of the Bearkat of 1959-60. I know that your experiences will prove to be valuable and your memories pleasant and lasting. No other record will bring back the 1959-60 Burkeville School days as does the Bearkat - A picture of memories in your prize selection for all your future days. Best wishes to a 11 the students of our school. Give the World the best you have and a successful life will be yours. Sincerely, W. B. Miller, Superintendent LEONA CHOATE Tax Assessor and Collector Secretary to the Superintendent PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE As we come to the end of this school year it is but a counterpart of common sense and human nature that we attempt again to look and see where we've been and where we are going in this effort to do our part in making American History and building a periscope to look into the future. It is now that we come to know better than ever, that regardless of how well we might have done as students or teachers, it was not good enough. You can now see instances in which the possibility of improvement was not completely exploited. . Let us all profit in the future by the short-comings of the past and always endeavor to grow in knowledge, understanding, citizenship, and vocational competence. Sincerely, E. C. In seventeen brief years, Dean Erzen's contribution to his world was far greater than that of many who have attained the age of threescore and ten. His devotion to his ideals, his genuine love for all humanity, and the glowing radiance of his smiling personality inspired everyone he met. Let us strive, through the deep sense of our loss, to remember our greater gain in the privilege of having known and loved him. Dean was a member of the Junior Class, 1959 - Senior Class, 1960. He was on the boys' basketball team, took an active pan in F. F. A. and was in the Junior Play 1959, Headin' For The Hills. His classmates voted him Most Friendly for the school year of 1958-59.
