For the first time ever, the Burke Central-Columbus Co-op made the state playoffs. Marshall I-lermanson was named to the 9-man. all-state football team as a linebacker being the first Panther ever to be named to the honor squad. The of- fense combined a strong option running at- tack with some accurate passing to outs- core their opponent 25 to 20, The defense combined strong linebacker and safetles to hold their opponents down. The Panthers also practiced and played with a lot of in- tensity, enthusiasm, and unity, making the season a very memorable one for all play- ers, coaches. and fans. They both won their jamborees, with two of the four teams going undefeated during the season. The participation was good with 48 girls and 45 boys com- peting. They were split into four teams so that there would be more playing time.
