The life of Mr, I, C, Evans epitomizes a life dedicated to an ideal - Ten years of his life were spent in teaching in elementary schools, Sixteen years were devoted to the principalship of Hardin Grade School. For the past six years he has served as superintendent of the Burkburnett schools, For these 32 years, his motivation has been a fervent desire to contribute to the molding of young minds and character through their education,

Previously, he was a history teacher for fifteen years, ten at Burk, and up until this year, the basketball and baseball coach, Also, a native of Oklahoma, he earned his B.S, at East Texas State Teachers College and his Master’s at Okla- homa State University. The cheerful voice of Mr. Roy L, Silkwood, re- sounding through the halls and rooms, has begun each B.H.S,. school day for the past ten years, Mr, Silk- wood, a native of Okla- homa, obtained his B.S, at Central State College and Master’s degree in Educa- tion at the University of Oklahoma, As President of the Burkburnett Lions Club, he is a leading member of the community. Also, he is a devoted father, with daughters aged 4, 6, 11, and 16 years, Mr, Silkwood had taught for five years be- fore he came to B.H.S., but he said that his ambition had always been to be principal of a large high school, His comment, ‘‘Everyone needs an educa- tion today to attain any success in life,’’ illustrates his strong belief in the im- portance of a high school.
