CLASS HISTORY From the beginning our class ha3 been much in evidence. While we were Freshmen we frequen- tly cast admiring glances at our superiors, the seniors,Juniors, and yea, even Sophmores,as wo were inspired by their nonchalance. The first year passed quickly and we studied hard, forever looking forward to the day when we should become Seniors and occupy the front seats in chapel.During our first year we lost Mattie Elkins,Brent Jones and Bert Patrick. Before the year was endod R.V .Lear joined our cla33. V c began our second year with several of the seats vacant as Elizabeth Warner,Gladys Sarge ant. Cl inton Snyder, R.V .Lear, Davis Kurtz, and Jessie Mae Pierce had withdrawn.Margaret Merriman also left us but Janis Lively came to our rescuoiThe second semester J.C.Davis was promoted to the next grade. The third year of our career began, and we wore beginning to acquire the superiorty complex that wa3 in the possession of the Soniors. We found that Janis Lively,Georgia Hager, and Loith Gifford had withdrawn. Raymond Goodlett was promoted to the next : grade but we were joined by Ada Sexton but this gain was lost when Delmer Gaskin with- drew. The fourth and last year has finally ar- rived and now i3 composed of only five girls and four boys of our once large cla33,only two have which passed all twelve years at Burgin,Elizabeth Spaulding and Grover Merri- man. 7c know hot what our future holds, but our aim is high,as we go through life wo shall often recall these happy days at Burgin High. CLASS PROPHECY In the year 1949 X was asked to check on the members of the Class of 39,that being the most illustrious'class which has ever graduated from Burgin Highland see what each member was doing. As I started out on my hunt I met Mary Anne Allendcr(now the wife of a Fayette County Farmer) and found that she had kept in touch with several of our classmates-- ’'Surely I have kept up with our classmates, 3ho said in answer to my question. Charles Allen- der,my brother lost his fear of the weaker sex and got married and is now more afraid than ever. Then there is Gwendolyn Sanders, the editor, copy writer, reporter and type setter of our county newspaper, The Harrodsburg Herald , I was just starting to see Grover Merriman, He is suffering from broken bones since he won the world's heavyweight championship over Har- old Bradshaw. In recognition of his namo Lowla Bradshaw has become a preacher and has become so very angelic that he dlarried Elizabeth Sjbaulding and Is doing his best to make an angel out of heri After the fight Harold became a sailor and is now traveling trying to forget women mostly. Margaret Lear has lost all interest In the men and is now trying to win the long flight contest between the North and South Pole in her air- plane,THE G.M, You know,of course, that Ada Sexton has ycilded to her vocal talents and Is now making a movie entitled How»m I Doin»
